Tomorrow Said the Master You Will Know Fear. How Will I Know if
Welcome dorsum and on to our final week where nosotros recap, react to, and ruminate about Star Expedition: Discovery Episode 15: "Will Yous Take My Hand?" This mail will contain some mild spoilers, and so don't read ahead until you accept watched episode 15.

Star Expedition: Discovery Episode 15: "Will You lot Take My Hand?" Recap
Star Expedition: Discovery episode 15 begins with a Klingon armada approaching World while the Discovery is approaching Qo'noS.
On the bridge of the Discovery, Saru and Burnham are clearly uncomfortable and have reservations about Starfleet's decision to put Emperor Georgiou in charge and pass her off as Captain Georgiou. Afterward Georgiou reminds Saru that he is food, Burnham attempts to trick Georgiou into revealing her identity.
Georgiou threatens Burnham on their fashion to get intel from 50'Rell. Georgiou's method of extracting intel involved attempted murder, which Burnham stops. Since L'Rell would rather die than cooperate, Burnham decided Tyler would exist a source of information, and he is. He unlocks the magic box inside of his encephalon (the box that holds Voq's memories) and they create a plan to get a drone inside of Qo'noS.
Tilly is tasked with carrying the drone, accompanying Georgiou, Burnham, and Tyler on an away mission to the Orion enclave on Qo'Nos. Very quickly, Tilly figures out Georgiou is not who Starfleet is passing her off every bit.
While on Qo'noS, Tyler and Burnham make up one's mind on 1 manner to get the info they demand to plant the drone, and Georgiou goes a unlike road, leaving Tilly alone to get stoned and laissez passer out. Later getting the flop from Georgiou, Burnham gives it to L'Rell to hold information technology over the heads of the other houses and unite them. The war is on pause. Georgiou is left to run around the Prime number Universe.
Dorsum on World, anybody gets a medal, Tilly becomes an ensign, Burnham receives a full pardon and is reinstated as a commander, Amanda reminds Burnham of her humanity, and Sarek apologizes and says he's proud she is his daughter.
Star Trek: Discovery episode xv ends with a hail from Captain Motorway and a view of the USS Enterprise.
Star Expedition: Discovery Episode 15: "Volition You Take My Hand?" Reactions
The reactions to Star Expedition: Discovery episode 15 from within my Star Trek community were non the best. The biggest critique we had was how rushed, once again, this episode felt. Deus ex Machina or, as I like to phone call it (ever since reading Redshirts by John Scalzi), "the magic box" was mode over the peak. It was all likewise pat.
I've personally felt this way about the last iv episodes. I really wish the studio canonical more than than just two extra episodes. I call back the writers were a little too aggressive with their storytelling. They couldn't have really cut anything out of the pre-suspension episodes considering every moment had information needed for the Mirror and post-Mirror episodes to work.
Merely, so, they had to rely too much on the magic box in those last four episodes to tie everything upward. I'd adopt the studio give them more episodes, and then they tin can proceed to be aggressive in their writing, but that isn't going to happen (peculiarly if Viacom absorbs CBS over again to merge all Trek avails).
So, the writers must be less ambitious in what they want to tell. And frankly, that sucks, because at that place were a bunch of splendid storytelling moments this season.
And while as a grouping we felt a little let down past the magic box used to end the war and accept a lot of questions near L'Rell and how that whole matter is just way too user-friendly to piece of work, nosotros were happy to come across some of the grander themes resolved and were satisfied with that.
Nosotros were happy to meet Burnham go full circle. We were happy to see the coiffure of the Discovery stand together and willing to commit mutiny rather than commit genocide, considering that is what y'all do in such a situation. And it'due south not easy.
We ate upwards the speech Burnham gave, broken upward in parts, through the episode. That speech sets the tone for the hereafter of the series.

And overall, we concord that the first season of Star Trek: Discovery is a lot better than other outset seasons, and even second seasons, of previous series.

We discussed whether Burnham needs redemption because a lot of the states didn't think Burnham's deportment in the beginning episodes were wrong. And she isn't the showtime officer to flagrantly disobey orders. Even Picard did it. And all the questions of morality that surroundings this issue.
Many weeks, we talked virtually the "at any cost" idea and what that means for not only the Federation, but for us in our nowadays.

We reacted to and discussed so much more but those were the highlights, making it a great season for me because it was every week, instead of a handful of episodes every season that actually get you talking most the societal issues highlighted.
Star Trek: Discovery Episode 15: "Will You Have My Hand?" Ruminations
"Will y'all accept my hand?" That is what Star Expedition: Discovery episode 15 asks. Not only within the story and a crew backing each other upwards, no questions asked, but I recall the writers are asking that of united states, too. Will y'all take my paw? Extending a paw is also scary because information technology tin atomic number 82 to rejection. Accepting that hand is scary because it tin can pb to cleaved trust.
All season, the writers have been asking u.s.a. to trust them. The writers have broken our trust, sometimes in very upsetting means similar with the treatment of Culber. But, they've also given us many wonderful things to ruminate about each week.

But, there were a bunch of great moments that gave glimmers of hope throughout the heaviness of flavor one of Star Trek: Discovery. Glimmers of hope are how I've survived to encounter this day. Star Expedition's hope and optimism gave me a sense of belonging.
The reason why I'll accept their manus into flavor ii is because of the post-obit speech Burnham gave throughout the episode. Information technology is part of what many of us have been debating all flavour. It sets the tone. It's something to chew on because it isn't piece of cake. In fact, in my own experiences, it can be the most hard thing to do:
